Doh!!!! He cancels Delivery… Check mate.

Michael Richardson of the-Electronics-Genie.co.uk, 22 Castlemartin TS17 5BA decided that in response to me complaining about the VAT matter described in one of their emails:

We have written down the total value of the goods as a very LOW nominal $US value on the shipping waybill and express invoice with the package, for the purposes of UK Customs to calculate import vat (IF ANY) – NOT as an invoice to be paid! This value represents the lowest possible nominal country of origin retail value for this item to assist. Specially ordered item due to unexpected stock sell out at short notice on both our online auction sites and the official Electronics Genie website (details of special orders on the website)”

EH?  I thought I ordered this from a UK company – how does VAT and duty come into it? Hence a call to Mr Richardson to ascertain why I might be liable for import duty.  His response was he’d cover that and my response was yes but why didn’t you mention any of this during my first call to you? Whereupon he loses it and tells me he’s recalling the item from DHL.

He did this and somehow made it look like I refused the item at the door – which I didn’t.

My response?  I lodged a dispute with PayPal saying that my item had not been delivered 🙂 Simples.

Mr Richardson’s response?  He’s now lodged a dispute with PayPal presumably saying that I declined the item at the door? NOW WHY WOULD I DO THAT – I JUST PAID £147 for an LCD monitor that I need?
